Spring Break: St. Patrick's Day

Since we had so much fun last year, we did the parade again this year! My cousin Kevin and his family recently moved to the Dallas area so they met up with us. Only pictures can show how much fun they had!

Look at all those beads!
For some reason, Elia wasn't so into catching beads.  She was moreinterested in
running in circles around people and getting as much of this guy as possible!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Spring Break: G's Doctor Appointment

On Tuesday we took Gianna to the "tummy" doctor.  After our pediatrician suggested we get her tested for Celiacs, I booked an appointment for when I knew Chris and I could have off.  After hearing eveything about G's history etc the doctor was pretty skeptical that she has it but he went ahead and sent us to get blood work done for her.  When I was holding her right before they were going to draw blood, I was trying to comfort her by telling her that when I was pregnant I always had to get blood drawn and I would just look away when they stuck me.  We still had to have another nurse come in and hold her still (even with my help) but all in all it was fine.  She got a milkshake afterwards and got to watch a movie instead of take a nap so I think she quite recovered from it all.

We cooked together a lot this week!

The next day we were on a walk and she tells me that she decided that she can't get married anymore.  (background story- she has been telling me for a few months now that she is going to grow up and get married and be a mommy just like me and that she is going to move to a house across the alley from us so that I can help her take care of her babies.  She has picked out the house and everything!  Love her.)
Anyway, when I asked her why she didn't want to get married anymore, she said that she doesn't want to get pregnant because then she will have to get her blood taken out of her all the time, so obviously she can't get married!  She also keeps asking when they are going to give her blood back.  Haha!
So we should know in the next week the results of the test.

Spring Break: Hanging with Friends

This was such a great spring break.  We met up with a lot of friends we haven't been able to see since I've been back to work.  I hosted my mom's group playgroup at the park on Wednesday and we also got to see Phia and M-M (and Baby X too!)

Spring Break: The Park

I had REALLY good intentions to go to a different park each day this spring break.  And we did pretty good- we went to 2 parks on Monday, 2 on Tuesday, 1 on Wednesday, skipped Thursday and went to the park Friday.  I was going to be a good little blogger and take a picture of them at each different park, but I kept forgetting we were just having so much fun!  Here is the only decent one that I took on Monday at the Dragon Park.  Love these 2.

It was fantastic that we were able to get outside so much this week.  When I think about how hot its going to be in a few months I get grumpy.  Gotta savor the nice weather we are having now!

Spring Break Behind the Scenes

A lot happened in the past week at the Rowles abode. Nothing like a week off work to pack in as much cleaning, organizing, visiting, playing, and just general fun as possible.

Museum at Fair Park

Since we had such a great time taking the train to the St. Patrick's Day parade last week, we took the DART again, but this time to Fair Park to go to the Dinosaurs Unearthed exhibit. Chris had a half day, so we had enough time to get to the museum by 3:30. The train lost a tiny bit of its new-ness to the girls, and it was harder to keep them sitting still and not crazy. The Dinosaurs Unearthed exhibit basically made you pay extra on top of the general exhibits. Unearthed had keypads so you could push buttons and make the dinosaurs move... which is pretty cool(especially for toddlers) but in the end probably not worth the extra dough.

Not sure how Elia felt at first!

They got pretty obsessed with excavating the bones. They could have played there for hours.

After we did Unearthed, we went to the general exhibits were there was some excavating in the sand (again, coulda played for hours). In fact, we could have done just this and everyone would have been happy. We also went to the under 6 play area where they have a play farm. The girls loved it too.

After that, we took the DART to Deep Ellum and got some Twisted Root burgers. They have been featured on Diners Drive ins and Dives, and trust me, they did not disappoint.
A fun day!

Arboretum

Monday morning, we had a blast hanging out with G's bff Brynn at the Arboretum. They have everything all decked out for spring, including some amazing fairy tale play castles. On Mondays and Tuesdays they have a Mommy and me program which includes face painting, crafts, and music. After we got our faces painted, we spent the rest of the morning exploring the castles. So. much. fun.

I feel like it made G look like she was 30 years old. But so beautiful!

Elia did not like it at first and kept trying to wipe it off. Once I distracted her with goldfish, she was all good.

Gianna kept breaking out into song- I think she was inspired by the beauty of it all. Here they are in the Beauty and the Beast Castle.

Elia went to Tom Thumb earlier that morning and got the 'thank you' sticker.

Best pics of the two of them together. G is mid song in the 1st picture. I feel like the face paint on Elia gives her man brows!

The tulips were freaking gorgeous. Gianna and Elia tried to play hide and seek in the open field, but it being in an open field, didn't go as well as they wanted.

SO glad spring is finally here!

Open House

Thursday night was Open House for my school. It made me love this school even more. Out of all 21 kiddos, only one parent didn't show up... and she had bronchitis. So you can't fault her for that. It was really fun getting to meet the parents of these students. So awesome that they care so much! This week was sort of crazy trying to get everything ready (ya know, clean the calssroom, get student work up on the bulletin boards etc). I think the parents especially liked the board I put up featuring all of the student's poems to Baby Ardyn. (L's baby).

It was a really long night! I got to school at 7am and didn't get home until 8:30pm. Once home, I had to wait up for Aunt Colleen to get here- and then I went straight to bed! Spring Break is here and this week is going to be packed with different outings, play groups, play dates and time with Aunt Col and daddy. So glad I have this week off!
